Heartland Credit Union is looking for a
full-time Account Resolution Assistant to work in Hutchinson, to help preserve credit union assets by assisting in controlling delinquency and proactively assisting members.

WORK DETAILS This position is in-person and will work at one of our Hutchinson branches, located at 900 E. 23rd Ave. Office hours are Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. No weekends required.
ABOUT THIS ACCOUNT RESOLUTION ASSISTANT POSITION The successful candidate will be responsible for the following activities:
- Researches accounts that appear on late and potentially late records to ensure that HCU errors are detected promptly. Provides members the opportunity to fully explain their account status.
- Reviews delinquency and verifies the status of the accounts.
- Connects with members early to collect payment and provide account status updates.
- Follows up on delinquent accounts by telephone, personal contact, and correspondence to secure a satisfactory resolution for repayment issues. Discusses possible financial arrangements, informs members of potential legal actions, and potentially suggests financial counseling to arrive at suitable payment arrangements. Continues to work with member until the account becomes a write-off, bankruptcy, or attorney account.
- Assists members using service skills addressing questions and problems while working towards resolution of delinquencies and minimizing loss for the credit union. Determines reasons for delinquencies and works toward permanent solutions. Minimizes losses by early actions.
- Utilizes further appropriate resolution and recovery methods if resolution is not met, including recommending extensions, consolidations, deferrals etc.
- Refers accounts to Account Resolution Manager for bankruptcy actions. Continues related collection efforts.
- Recommends possible charge-offs(loan default designation) in the event of an uncollectable debt.
- Ensures collections efforts comply with HCU policies and procedures and ensures they are legally compliant.
- Serves credit union team members promptly and professionally.
- Attends meetings and training sessions as required.
- Provides superior service to members and staff.
- Pro-actively support and advance HCU's brand platform.
- Performs all other collection duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ACCOUNT RESOLUTION ASSISTANT POSITION - High school graduate or equivalent.
- Previous collection experience is helpful.
- Previous experience at a financial institution is helpful.
- Previous experience working in an office environment is preferred.
- Accuracy and thoroughness in work.
- Excellent communication, telephone, and public relations skills.
- Ability to work well independently.
- Ability to work well in stressful situations.
- Able to operate related computer applications and PC.
- Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Flexible and open to change.
- Valid driver's license.
- Required to sit, stand, and walk. Standing for extended periods of time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
