Position Summary Supervise, plan and coordinate airport maintenance activities and operations within the Aviation Department; coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies and the general public and provide highly responsible and complex staff assistance to the Airport Facilities Manager. Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis. Associate's degree in building construction or construction management;
and Five (5) years of building or facility maintenance experience;
and To include one (1) year of supervisory or lead experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
Must be able to successfully qualify for and maintain a Sunport Access Control Card as determined by the criteria set forth by the policies and guidelines of the Aviation Department and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
Successful completion of a security background check conducted by U.S. Customs & Border Protection, if applicable.
Preferred Knowledge - Operational characteristics, services and activities of an airport maintenance program
- Modern and complex principles and practices of airport maintenance
- Airport surface construction and repair
- Basic knowledge of airport operations
- Principles of municipal budget preparation and control
- Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
- Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations
Preferred Skills & Abilities - Supervise, direct and coordinate the work of lower level staff
- Oversee an airport vehicle maintenance repair program
- Oversee airport maintenance operations for various buildings and structures
- Select, supervise, train and evaluate staff
- Interpret and explain City airport maintenance policies and procedures
- Prepare clear and concise reports
- Communicate clearly and concisely
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
