Whether it's conducting a routine maintenance on the fire panel in the Tiger exhibit, fixing an electrical wire in the Simon Skjodt International Orangutan Center, or checking the PLCs in the Dolphin Pavilion, the Building Automation Technician position at the Indianapolis Zoo offers an amazing environment to work in! We are currently on the hunt for an experienced Building Automation Technician to add to our Facilities team!
Ideal candidates are committed to advancing the Zoo's mission to protect nature and inspire people to care for our world. The successful candidate will have at least five (5) years or more experience working in the commercial or industrial automation systems and building controls field (preferably with Honeywell systems). The chosen candidate will also possess at least one (1) to two (2) years in graphics, programming, installation, and repair of systems. Prior knowledge or experience in general maintenance fields such as electrical, plumbing, and/ or HVAC is highly desirable as this position may be asked to help in other areas. High school diploma or equivalent EET/ Technical Trades degree or equivalent experience/ education in appropriate field is strongly preferred (certificate of training for Building Automation Systems is a plus!).
This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, position where shifts may vary due to emergency situations. Flexibility in scheduled hours is a must. This role may demand 24/7 on-call availability. Weekend work, holidays and overtime are required as needed, though we do try to have consistent scheduled days off. Must also possess a valid Indiana driver's license and have a driving record that is insurable by the Zoo's insurance provider. Uniforms, PPE, and tools are provided.
