Salary: $17.09/hr. or higher, depending on experience. (260 day/Non-Exempt)
Description : The custodian ensures that all athletic buildings, facilities, and equipment are clean, sanitary, functional and properly arranged for sporting events and/or special functions. Performs custodial maintenance duties, including dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, cleaning and restocking restrooms. Evening and weekend hours may be required.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:
HS diploma or equivalent and must possess or have ability to obtain within sixty days of employment and must maintain a valid NM Class D driver's license and three (3) years of experience in performing custodial duties, preferably in a school setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Sweeps, mops, vacuums, scrubs, and refinishes floors; cleans, dusts and polishes furniture; washes windows and walls; cleans restrooms; disposes of trash, changes light bulbs, dusts bookshelves, blinds, furniture and equipment, make certain all areas of the building are kept in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition according to industry and/or school standards.
- Locks doors after cleaning areas.
- Organizes meeting rooms, set-ups and takes down for meetings and events, opens and secures buildings and facilities.
- Washes, cleans and sanitizes restroom surfaces, restocks paper and soap supplies.
- Picks up litter within and around all athletic facilities, and on other school grounds.
- Assures safety during inclement weather to including shoveling, salting, providing slip protection on wet floors, remove debris from down spouts when clogged, and other safety measures.
- Applies cleaning chemicals according to established safety procedures.
- Adheres to safety measures for cleaning, lifting, moving, and operating equipment.
- Performs minor repair and maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies, as authorized by maintenance staff.
- Removes extraneous dirt/markings from interior and exterior vertical/horizontal surfaces (walls, doors, etc.).
- Advises building director or athletics assistant on matters relating to mechanical equipment and/or building maintenance.
- Performs minor painting to walls, rails within and around the athletics facilities.
- Keeps all equipment in a good state of repair and cleanliness.
- Maintains inventory and request cleaning supplies and materials needed to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Secures equipment and supplies and protects against pilferage, loss, theft, or abuse.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Performs building monitor duties for monitored events.
- Exhibits customer service standards and procedures.
- Assists in other areas of campus as requested by the Athletic Director.
- Comply with OSHA standards.

Work Environment, Safety, and Equipment Work is generally performed in an office setting. Frequent use of communication equipment and computers. Evening, holiday, and weekend work may be required. Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision. May require traveling to various communities to meet with students, parents, guardians, Tribal social services, and other service providers.
Safety and Health Requirements:
•Proper posture is required to eliminate acute and chronic low back pain.
•Complete all required safety and health training.
•Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions and knowledge of safe school precautions.
•The employee must adhere to SFIS safety protocols and crisis plans.
Equipment/Material Handled:
Must know how to properly operate, or be willing to learn to operate, all multi-media equipment, software, and current technology.
Physical Demands While performing the duties for this position, sitting, standing, lifting, carrying (up to 30 lbs.), reaching, squatting, kneeling, and moving light furniture may be required. Have manual dexterity and finger dexterity. Occasionally required to reach above shoulder level. Must be able to see, read, and record small numbers.
