The Shelly Company is known throughout the industry for innovation, quality and for our commitment to safety.Position OverviewTo assist the plant with daily production duties by loading finished product for customers, operating heavy equipment, laboring, and other miscellaneous plant related functions.Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:•Ability to detect safety hazards and equipment malfunctions and respond accordingly.•Ability to maintain and safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment, including Haul Tuck, Water Truck, Dump Truck, Dredge, Track Hoe, Frontend Loader, and Skid Steer Loader.•Ability to load finished product for onsite customers.•Ability to understand and follow directions.•Ability to weld and fabricate as needed.•Assist with miscellaneous duties include but not limited to; general labor, shoveling, performing necessary equipment maintenance, assisting foreperson and/or crew members as needed as requested by the Plant Manager/Superintendent/Foreperson.•Assist with the daily operations and upkeep of the plant.•Clean up around the plant, equipment, and surrounding area.•General understanding of OSHA & MSHA regulations.•Perform general maintenance on the equipment.Other Requirements:•This role will require solid customer service skills when supporting onsite customers.•Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.•Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.•Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.•Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.•Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.•Strict adherence to Shelly Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.•Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Shelly Company employees. Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.•Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.Education and ExperienceLess than or equal to a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Personal Protective EquipmentIndividuals are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position: Welding Gloves, Hard Hat, Hearing Protection, Padlocks for Lockout/Tagout, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, use of Seatbelt and harnesses when required.Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.Mathematical SkillsAbility to perform basic mathematical skills.Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Physical and Vision RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee frequently is required to sit, climb, or balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The employee must regularly lift and/or move around 25 pounds and may also have to move over 50 pounds with equipment assistance.Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to wet, humid condition airborne particles, and extreme heat or cold.
