Salary: $75,000 - $115,000

Washington Policy Center (WPC) is a non-profit, independent, public policy research institute committed to improving the lives of Washington state’s citizens by providing accurate, high-quality, and innovative solutions for policymakers, the media, and the public. We have a statewide staff of 26 people, an annual budget of more than $5 million, and offices located in Seattle and Eastern Washington.

 

Summary: The Marketing Director at WPC will lead the development and execution of the organization’s marketing strategy. This is a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves role, where the individual will focus on driving execution to expand WPC’s reach, protect the brand, and position the organization as a leader in public policy. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, the Marketing Director will oversee all marketing initiatives to ensure alignment with WPC’s mission and strategic objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES  

 

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies aligned with WPC's objectives, setting measurable goals, tracking performance, and adjusting tactics to ensure success. 
  • Protect and enhance WPC’s brand by ensuring consistency across all marketing channels and actively managing the organization’s public image. 
  • Manage multiple marketing projects, coordinating with the COO, WPC’s Communications team, and the Marketing and Communications Committee, and overseeing the Communications Manager to ensure timely, effective, and on-budget execution. 
  • Create and oversee the production of engaging content for digital and print platforms, ensuring it aligns with WPC’s strategic messaging and brand standards. 
  • Conduct market research, analyze data and campaign performance, and prepare reports with actionable insights to continuously optimize initiatives. 
  • Lead marketing efforts for WPC’s events, ensuring they are well-publicized, meet marketing goals, and contribute positively to WPC’s brand and strategic objectives. 
  • Drive tactical implementation by working closely with the Communications team to ensure flawless execution of all campaigns, taking ownership of timelines and deliverables. 

 

SKILLS & CAPABILITIES  

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field, with 5 years or more of successful marketing and design experience. 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines independently, with strong organizational skills. 
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with proficiency in marketing analytics and CRM tools. 
  • Expertise in digital marketing channels, including social media, email, and content marketing. 
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical abilities to translate data into actionable insights and adapt to change. 
  • Effective collaborator with strong interpersonal skills for team and partner engagement. 

 

Highly qualified candidates will also possess:  

  • Deep knowledge of public policy issues relevant to WPC’s focus areas and the ability to translate complex topics into compelling marketing content. 
  • More than 5 years of experience in marketing, with a history of leading successful campaigns that significantly enhanced brand visibility and impact. 
  • A well-developed professional network, particularly within the public policy or non-profit sectors, that can be leveraged to enhance marketing efforts. 
  • Advanced skills in digital marketing tools, CRM software, and data analytics, with the ability to optimize strategies based on insights. 

Details/Benefits:

  • Preferred start date: Fall 2024
  • Hours: Full-time, 8:30am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday, plus evenings/weekends for events
