English Language Development (ELD) Teacher (326)
We offer a competitive hiring salary.
Our hiring salary is $51,000.00 to $52,000.00 per year. Classroom Site Fund/Prop 301 (additional $8,500 is
included in the salary), up to 10 years of Teacher experience. Teachers with the following education level
can earn the additional salary: BA+15hrs ($1,140), BA+30 ($2,280), BA+45/MA ($3,420). Other
possible payment (if eligible) $3,000 for National Board-Certified Teacher, $1,500 for BLE, $1,000 for ESL,
$500 for Prov ESL. Performance Pay up to $3,000.00.
We also offer a stipend for hard to fill Teach positions: $2,000 Special Ed Teacher, $1,500 Math Teacher, $1,500 Science Teacher, and $1,000 Speech/Language Arts Teacher (Teachers will be eligible for one hard to fill stipend).

The English Language Development (ELD) Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating instruction based upon specific standards and objectives established by WSD and the ELD program. Creates a dynamic, collaborative, and interactive classroom environment in which English Learners (EL) achieve at the highest levels with appropriate supports and multiple opportunities for success. Facilitates high levels of teacher-directed student interaction, participation, and activity. Develops relevant and engaging lessons to support the goals of the ELD program. Incorporates enrichment and motivational activities designed to support students’ college and career readiness. Assists students in learning knowledge and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible citizens.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Participates in district/site training, including summer training and support, as necessary.
• Plans and delivers appropriate curriculum content to students in the 4 domains; reading, writing, listening,
and speaking.
• Plans, teaches and assesses communication skills in the areas of oral and written language.
• Develops lessons focused on organizational and study skills facilitated by reading, writing, critical thinking
and inquiry.
• Provides intermediate, advanced, and long-term ELs multiple opportunities to develop oral and written
academic language and literacy within a supportive space.
• Assesses students' learning on an ongoing basis and alters instruction to meet group/individual needs.
• Uses the curriculum of the district to plan daily instructional activities.
• Maintains order within the classroom setting in accordance with division guidelines regarding student
behavior management.
• Supervises students in non-classroom time (before school, after school, student activities, fire drills).
• Collaborates with other faculty in planning and delivering instruction to students.
• Communicates regularly with families.
• Coordinates and collaborates with other staff members to support the standards and objectives established
by WSD for college and career preparation.
• Collaborates with ELD program staff to facilitate and support family and community stakeholder events to
promote the ELD program and develop a culture that is college and career focused.
• Collects and maintains data related to the ELD program implementation and submits reports to the
Leadership in a timely manner.
• Ensures compliance with existing applicable federal and state statutes and local policies, regulations and
guidelines related to public schools.
• Supports the state mandated assessment.
• Support the ELD program staff with AZELLA Placement and Reassessment assessments.
• Demonstrates commitment to improving professional competence.
• Performs other duties as established by School Board Policy.
• Performs other duties as required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree in education or related field from an accredited college/university, demonstrated
instructional expertise as evidenced by successful teaching experience.
· Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate.
· Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
PREFFERED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
· Master’s Degree preferred and/or related work experience, demonstrated instructional expertise as evidenced by successful teaching experience.
· SEI endorsement, ESL/BLE endorsement preferred
· Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate
· Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.

We are a Pre-K through 8th grade school district in Phoenix, Arizona, established as the seventh school district organized in Maricopa County in 1879 and named for Mr. W. J. Wilson, a school board member. The district name was changed in the mid1930’s to Hawkins School. From Wilson to Hawkins to Ward to Skiff, the District was bought by Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and relocated to its current location in the early 1980’s and named Wilson Primary and Wilson Elementary, opening on Martin Luther King Day in 1985. The district boundaries cover an area from Roosevelt Street to the north; the Salt River to the south; 40th Street to the east; and 16th Street to the west.
