Its an exciting time in pet food! Post Holdings, Inc., recently announced an agreement to acquire Perfection Pet Foods, a leading manufacturer of private label and co-manufactured pet food and baked treats. The transaction is anticipated to close by the end of the calendar year in 2023. This role is part of the Perfection Pet Foods team of 250+ employees who will soon join the Post family to help grow the pet food business.

The Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania facility is 1,120,845 square feet and home to about 470 hard working team members who are proud to produce iconic pet food brands like Kibbles 'n Bits and 9Lives. This location has a cannery that produces wet dog food and there is also a Distribution Center on-site. Bloomsburg is home to Bloomsburg University, a municipal airport, a landmark Town Park with many acres of recreational activities, and has one of the largest and longest running fairs in the country. JOB FUNCTION

Responsible for the development, implementation, and coordination of safety and health programs at plant and distribution center locations for PCB. Provides expertise in the areas of safety compliance, training, risk management, industrial hygiene, program design and development. Assistance will also be provided to other locations on an as-needed basis. Support, implement, and maintain food safety, food safety culture, and quality practices as required through SQF.

JOB ACTIVITIES/DUTIES

1. Key member of factory leadership team, settling strategic direction and vision for site safety.
2. Implement programs and oversee systems to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local ordinances pertaining to environmental and safety regulations.
3. Manage and direct teams in the implementation of the companys internal EHS management system.
4. Coordinate overall strategies, budgeting, and programs, including personnel safety, regulatory compliance, environmental permitting, environmental sustainability, loss control, regulatory reporting, improvement projects, training, and regulatory liaison work.
5. Provide strategic and tactical leadership of company business systems (e.g. behavior-based safety, crisis management, etc.)
6. Facilitate attainment of EHS objectives through leadership and delegation utilizing systems and feedback on performance by objective quantifiable measures.
7. Assist line and staff management with implementation of safety policies.
8. Provide tools for production staff and management to identify hazardous conditions and practices and develops hazard control programs.
9. Assist in accident investigations with line supervisors as requested, and assure timely follow-up.
10. Plans and directs industrial hygiene services.
11. Assesses new developments in the safety and health field that may have application to the companys operation.
12. Work with production staff to develop accident prevention plans.
13. Manage local EHS support staff, onsite nurse and assist in prioritizing job activities.
14. Provide direction and support to the companys safety committees.
15. Act as ranking company representative in dealing with government agencies on safety and health matters.
16. Coordinate the development of safety training and oversee maintenance of documentation and records.
17. Provide guidance for the incident management process including accident reporting, corrective action, worker compensation claims, return to work program, and OSHA Recordkeeping.
18. Support internal and external audit processes to ensure ongoing compliance at all facilities.
19. Manage facility wastewater treatment plant and work with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure ongoing treatment and discharge requirements are met.
20. Provide support for environmental, health and safety matters at facility distribution center.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education:

Four-year college degree in occupational safety and health management or in a related field with emphasis in industrial hygiene, and safety management (masters degree and Certified Safety Professional desirable).

Experience:

Minimum of five years health, safety and environmental management experience in a manufacturing environment (experience in a multi-plant environment desirable). Key areas of experience: program development, training development and delivery, safety audits, behavioral safety, ergonomics and wastewater treatment. Workers compensation and OSHA recordkeeping experience desirable.
