Job Description

This is a contingent requistion to support the proposal requirements.

HII is seeking a Plastic Additive Manufacturing professional (any level) for a USG customer in the Northern Virginia area. You will operate, maintain, and serve as the primary subject matter expert for tools and equipment relating to plastics molding, casting and additive manufacturing. You will ensure constant availability of equipment to respond to quick-reaction-capability demands.

*This role is contingent upon being awarded the contract.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling. Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques. Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

MJF, FDM, FFF, SLA/DLP, injection molding, autoclaves, and mold making tools. Operate and maintain plastic and additive manufacturing surface finishing and painting capabilities. Coordinate planned and unplanned maintenance activities with external vendors to ensure 24x7 availability.

Minimum Qualifications

Level 5: 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in realted field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience.

Level 4: 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in realted field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.

Level 3: 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in realted field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.

Level 2: 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.

Level 1: 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience.

All Levels:
  • Experience with manufacturing processes as shown above
  • Experience with equipment as detailed above
  • Organizational skills to develop and manage a material and equipment stock inventory system
  • Experience complying with HAZMAT materials in accordance with EPA reguations
  • Research and awareness of emerging and future capabilities in the plastics and additive manufacturing capabilty areas
  • Must possess an active TS/SCI Full Scope Poly

Preferred Requirements

  • Technical background in engineering or manufacturing
  • Experience developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Experience with configuration management of procedures and documentation
  • Creativity to address non-standard problem sets
  • Ability to operate independently and at a fast-pace

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
