Axios Professional Recruitment is partnered with a growing, place-based K-8 charter school in Detroit, MI. James & Grace Lee Boggs School is seeking a passionate Resource Room Teacher to guide students in instruction and effective practices to help meet their needs.

Qualifications

• Michigan Teaching Certification
• Special Education endorsement (SV, SM, SE and/or SA), preferred
• Classroom and data collection experience
• Commitment to continuous improvement
• Understanding of classroom strategies and systems of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support
• Demonstrated leadership and initiative advocating and coordinating required student services

Responsibilities

Include, but are not limited to:

• Familiarity with the school’s origins, including the lives and legacy of James and Grace Lee Boggs
• Planning and delivery of appropriate individualized instruction for caseload students based upon IEP goals and objectives, with access to general education curriculum
• Collaborate with general education teachers to support the learning of both general education and special education students
• Provide consultative support to teachers
• Ensure that appropriate staff are aware of all IEP services and goals
• Assist staff in assessing, developing and maintaining individual educational/behavioral plans
• Ability to work and contribute effectively within a team structure, i.e., coordinating with ancillary personnel such as social workers, psychologist, etc.
• Ability to appropriately integrate classroom technology and assistive technology within instruction
• Function as a member of an inter-disciplinary team providing diagnostic, prescriptive and educational programing for special education and general education students
• Instruct students of all ability levels using the District curriculum and IEP goals and objectives
• Work to further develop the curriculum and seek innovative, engaging and motivating instructional approaches
• Frequently communicate with students, parents, teachers, ancillary staff and administrators regarding student progress and other related matters
• Monitor, assess and report student progress toward learning targets and curriculum
• Fosters a sense of appreciation and enthusiasm for the instructional content areas
• Accurately meets all mandated special education documentation and reporting in a timely manner

Professional Development

• Attend summer institute in August, including completing assigned readings
• Attend trainings according to identified professional needs and training availability
