Internship Program Overview: As a participant in the Belk Internship Program you will gain real word experience and exposure to various functional areas of Logistics and Supply Chain Operations. You will focus on understanding the operations in a distribution center or fulfilment center, while building relationships with senior Operations leaders. You will gain experience through structured shadowing assignments, leading a team in the warehouse and real-time problem solving with both inbound and outbound logistics. The Internship Program provides exposure to senior leaders, professional development workshops, structured assignments, and social events over the 10 weeks in the Summer. You will work in-person in one of our buildings: distribution center located in Jackson, MS.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities: - One-on-one mentoring with a Senior Operations Manager
- Work in a fast paced, dynamic, test and learn environment
- Identify & analyze Distribution Centers/Logistics data/trends to drive both strategic and tactical opportunities
- Assist with staffing mix during assigned shift for applicable department(s) in partnership with management and the production/wave planning office
- Complete assigned projects by working with others within Logistics, gaining a broad perspective on both the functions of the Direct-to-Consumer Fulfillment network and how it relates to the overall goals of the company
- Monitor conveyor/sorted system to ensure goods flow properly within the facility
- Maintain accurate records of processed and put away merchandise, packages, and gift packaging, tracking numbers, etc. as well as associate productivity
- Ability to work off shifts to understand impact on the business (Belk has a two-shift operation running 16 hours a day)
- Perform analysis to reconcile data to source reports to resolve discrepancies
Requirements/Qualifications: - Rising college senior planning to graduate in December 2025 or May 2026
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by Belk for this position now or in the future
- Proven strong academic performer (GPA of 3.2 or higher preferred)
- Majoring in Business, Management, Operations, Supply Chain, or have Warehouse Experience
- Leadership skills that include professional business ethics, confidence and self-motivation
- Strong business background with ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and take action
- Previous warehouse or factory experience
- Proficient in Excel and MS Office applications
