Job Summary:
The Warehouse Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and timely flow of goods through our warehouse. You will be responsible for managing a team of dedicated professionals, optimizing processes, designing and implementing standard operating procedures, leading safety efforts, and coordinating with various departments to maintain operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Essential Functions: Warehouse Operations Management: - Manage day-to-day warehouse operations for our 3PL partners; this includes managing relationships and inventory transactions.
- Coordinate and supervise the loading and unloading of products onto/from trailers, shipping containers and railroad cars, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational guidelines.
- Oversee the scheduling and routing of incoming and outgoing shipments to maximize efficiency and minimize delays.
- Collaborate with short-line rail connections and partners to facilitate smooth communication and resolve any operational issues.
- Create a stable inventory environment by managing inventory control with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Drive actions and results through consistent monitoring of our key performance indicators (KPIs).
Team Leadership: - Lead, mentor, and develop a team of operations staff, including supervisors and laborers.
- Conduct regular training sessions in accordance with business partners to ensure all team members are well-versed in safety protocols, equipment operation, and best practices.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment consistent with our company values and encourages teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Manage daily staff schedule in accordance to budget and/or business needs.
Process Optimization: - Continuously analyze and evaluate existing warehouse operations to identify areas for improvement and efficiency.
- Develop and implement innovative strategies to streamline operations, reduce bottlenecks, and enhance productivity.
- Ensure standard process through effective use of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Safety and Compliance: - Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, protocols, and guidelines for railroad, trucking and warehouse operations.
- Perform weekly/monthly audits to inspect equipment, facilities and identify potential safety hazards and work with business partners to address as needed.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies and authorities to maintain compliance with all relevant industry standards.
Communication and Coordination: - Liaise with various departments, including customer service, inventory, people operations and transportation, to align with overall business goals.
- Clear and timely communication with external/internal business partners to manage expectations and resolve any problems or delays.
- Prepare and present regular reports on warehouse operations performance.
Skills and Qualifications: - Logistics and Warehouse Experience
- 5+ years of experience in warehouse operations management including but not limited to shipping, receiving, put away, replenishment, picking, loading, and cycle-counting for inventory control.
- Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and other tools for scheduling, tracking, and reporting.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a large scale fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to support and meet operational demands including managing staff that operate 24/7.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Ability to operate various types of materials handling equipment including hand trucks, manual pallet jacks, electric pallet jacks, order pickers, etc.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of motivating and developing diverse teams.
- Knowledge of railroad operations, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a data-driven mindset for process optimization.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
- Bilingual (Spanish) required.
