GENERAL SUMMARY Responsible for developing Energy Northwest's legislative policy and strategy in coordination with the executive board, senior leadership and the CCO. In alignment with legislative and agency strategies, plan and implement a robust legislative engagement plan. In collaboration with the CCO and Public Affairs team, develop and implement an external affairs strategy. Serve as PA's business-to-business and provide key support for CEO engagements e.g. speech writing, presentations, & legislative visits. Perform other internal and external public relations as assigned, to include research, planning (including goal-setting and message development), writing and news publication, analysis (to include metric development and tracking), project work, tours, events, and media relations (including serving as agency spokesperson).
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES In coordination with the executive board, senior leadership and the CCO, develop and coordinate the agency's legislative policy and strategy. Co-coordinate new nuclear development strategies.
In collaboration with the CCO and Public Affairs team, develop and implement an external affairs strategy. Serve as PA's business-to-business lead and provide key support for CEO and executive engagements e.g. speech writing, presentations, member & legislative visits, Member Updates etc.
In alignment with legislative and agency strategies, plan and implement a robust legislative engagement plan to include legislative office visits throughout Washington and periodically to D.C.; provide after-action reports and accomplish associated follow-up work. Manage alignment of state and federal communication. Become and stay familiar with legislative options related to Energy Northwest priorities. Conduct legislative opinion interviews to receive feedback on legislative perspectives on Energy Northwest projects and initiatives; track trends; report results to the Senior Leadership Team & governing boards. Plan, prepare legislative testimony as needed for self and others as deemed necessary.
Perform other internal and external public relations, to include research, planning (including goal-setting and message
development), writing and newsletter publication, analysis (to include metric development and tracking), project work, tours, events, media relations (including serving as agency spokesperson) and other duties as assigned.
Serve as primary legislative event planner for legislative receptions, tours and other legislative engagement events as initiated/assigned.
Serve as primary, or alternate to the CCO, for attendance at state, regional and national industry government/external affairs meetings and conferences.
Perform other duties as assigned.
This position does require travel.
Must participate on the Emergency Response team (ERO) and on-call Public Affairs duty officer when designated.
Must support the biennial refueling outage.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in political science, public relations, communications or a related field and at least six years of legislative and/or PR experience with a minimum of three years legislative, OR an Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university and eight years relevant experience (minimum of three years legislative).
This position is open until filled. Pay Range $103,563.00 - $155,345.00 Annual
Midpoint:
$129,454.00
Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.
Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.
Incentive Compensation This role may be eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
